You should have received a field trip permission slip for our upcoming trip on Friday, May 27th. If you have a zoo pass, you don't need to send in any money. If you do not have a zoo pass, the cost is $4 for chaperones and $4 for students. Please send in the money as soon as possible so that we can purchase the tickets in advance. We will be taking tri-met to the zoo, if you are chaperoning and riding on the bus with us, you will need a trimet pass or $5 for the fare. Students are free on tri met. Please let me know if you have any questions about the field trip.
We are studying animals in our classroom. Students chose a zoo animal to research and have been looking for interesting facts about their animal in addition to writing about the animal's habitat, what it eats, and what it looks like. So far, I have learned that flamingos pee on themselves to keep themselves cool, alligators open their mouths to cool off, alligators have wider snouts than crocodiles, and female pea cocks are actually called pea hens. We will be learning about mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles before our trip to the zoo.
