Students have selected a zoo animal that they are researching in our classroom. I have a selection of books from the school library in addition to information online that I have printed off for students. Students are looking through their books for information about their animals: habitat, description, food and drink, and interesting facts. They can either use the pictures to get information or read the words in the books. We have discussed that they should NOT copy the words in the books, but this is a difficult concept. So far, students have written the facts that they already know about their animal and they have started collecting facts (note taking). We are turning our notes into sentences this week and make sure that we have enough information about our animal. I am getting new books from the library today for students to look at and read.
